I took my cat to the vet to get spade and he said she was pregnant or had pyometra - It would cost $1500 to get her spade because the pyometra means infection in the uterus. I asked if I could get antibiotic to try that - He did a blood test and the white count was up a little bit - he said it is usually really high if they have pyometra. I have had her on the drug for 6 days and she is dripping less light pink fluid but still does drip occasionally. She seems fine - purrs eats urine and stools and does still play and act normal. I am so upset because he said if I don't have the surgery it will result in death for her - she will get septic and die. This vet I have I am not happy with his bedside manner. I'm looking for advise from someone who has had this already. Thanks Pam

Pam, as with our own doctors, not all vets are right for us. If I were you, I would find another vet, make an appointment as soon as possible and get a second opinion. I don't like the fact that your cat is "dripping" and if she is pregnant, the meds he put her on are damaging the kittens. I am glad that you have chosen to have her spayed. You sound like a good and responsible pet owner. Personally, I believe that $1500 is highway robbery. Please don't wait for someone to show up here who might have had the same problem. It could take days for someone who might have gone through what you are going through to post back to you. Your baby needs to be checked over again as soon as possible. Then, you can make a fully informed decision as to how to proceed.

I hope this helped. Good Luck!
