Thinking about TurboTax. To get started, do you need to post your last year's return? Having been through a Bad Broker and now a Bad Tax Perparer, I can do as good as these 2.
At least I have my interest as Number Uno and I will only have myself to blame for errors.

I've used TT for over 10 years now. You can start from scratch, but you will need to enter all your data.
A lot depends on how complex your return is and how much you know about the tax code. TT is pretty good at asking questions that can lead to deductions and making sure everything is covered.

It is good for average returns, You don't "post" anything, you do enter when it asks all of the information from the year you are filing, all income and deductions.
All of them are only as good as the info you provide and how honest you want to be with it.

Agree that TurboTax is a good product for the average return.
However, a GOOD, HONEST tax professional will at least save you in taxes what you pay him in fees, and you submit the return knowing it has been vetted by a professional. You just need to be more careful about who you pick to be your preparer.
