I recently bought a house to escape from paying rent at a crappy apartment complex. I asked my father, who has near perfect credit, if he would help me finance my new home. He agreed to and now we are both co-owners of the house me, my fiancˇ, and our son live in. However, because he is old fashioned, my father is pissed that my fiancˇ stays home to take care of our son while I work and wants to charge my fiancˇ rent. Is it legal for him to do so if it is against my wishes?
I know he cannot evict him and if there is a way he could charge rent I would technically be entitled to half of his profit.

Depending on the area, will vary by location, he could but only for 1/2 of the value, since you would get 1/2.

But what payment plan do you have with him in writing to pay the loan.

As co-owners he can do nothing without your approval and vice versa.

Tell him if he tries to charge your fiancée rent, then your fiancée will charge him for home maintenance and babysitting services.
