My eight-month old, male daschund won't eat tonight. He only wants to sleep. This is highly unusual for him. His female sibling is fine. Help.

Has he eaten anything he shouldn't have?

When was his last meal? When was his last BM?

Is he drinking water?

Is he wanting to hide and sleep? Or is he hanging out with the group and sleeping?

Is he drooling a lot? Drinking a lot?

To be honest, I wouldn't be upset with a dog missing one meal. Healthy dogs don't necessarily eat every meal offered. Also, if you are feeding a high calorie diet with very little exercise, like us, he won't want to eat due to his body being nutritionally satisified.

Does he want to interact with you? Or does he just sit there? His stomach may just be upset. Try offering him some yogurt and see if he eats it. Any flavor works good.. about 1/4 of a cup should do.

If he refuses to eat anything tomorrow, I would say take him into the vet on Monday for a check up..
