Hi, I recently bought and older house (My first!) That was built in like 1954, now the bathroom is very small so I'm sort of relocating it. My question is can I move my main stack with 22.5 and 45 degree elbows or am I stuck with it coming up out of the soon to be dinning room floor?

NOt sure of the difference between the soil and vent stack (besides the obvious) the stack I want to move is running from my sewer clean out all the way up straight thruogh the house out the roof and I need to move it about 6-10 feet to go up through the new 2x6 wall that I'm building, I have all sorts of room in the basement so I can angle it but my toilet also runs to this stack... does any of this make sense?

That is the vent stack and you can move it. A properly operating stack never has water or pressure in it, just vents sewer gas to the outside of the house.

I wouldn't be running to Lowe's for elbows until you hear from our plumbers. Likely it can be done, but you may need help sticking to code. If the toilet dumps into it, it is far more than a vent.

A "stack vent" is a pipe that a fixture such as a toilet discharges into on its way to the sewer. A "vent stack" is the rest of the "stack vent" that's dry and vents out the roof. And since I'm clearing up terms and functions, Ballengerb1, a vent stack does not exhaust sewer gas out the roof. It relieves, (vents) the vacuum caused by draining water. It doesn't push gas out, it sucks air in.

Talyse, If the toilet is below the vent you wish to move you may use as many elbos and offset it as much as you wish. If it's above where you wish to move the stack then using 45's and 22 1/2's to a minimium would most likely work. Good luck, Tom
