At school in Australia we watched a documentary series about Chinese history, culture, politics etc. We saw it in 1987. And I think it must have been made in the 1980's because it seemed up to date. I think it was possibly British made.
It was made looking at China through the eyes of the people themselves. I remember certain specific things like a woman who was pregnant for the second time and she lived with her family in a cave. After she had the baby they showed the authorities coming to get her and take her to the hospital to be sterilised. Without anaesthetic and against her will. Amazingly they let the whole thing be filmed. It was fabulous if anyone can help I'd be grateful. It was a series not a film.
Thanks very much. :)
