I have a sulfur odor coming from a cold water faucet in my bathroom. My wife noticed the odor shorlty after moving into the new house. We're on city water, the water pressure is above average (95 psi), the supply lines are all plastic/PVC (blue in color) and the one sink the odor is coming from has a Moen faucet. A similar question was posted to this site in 2009 but I did not see your response. A response by MrDIY reported their was a batch of Moen faucets that used the incorrect tubing when it was manufactured and Moen would supply a repair kit. Before pursuing this option I wanted to get your opinion on the problem and solution. Can you help?

Hard to believe but I may have found the problem... in the faucet.

I turned off the cold water valve under the sink and disconnected the cold water supply line. I got a cup and slowly turned on the shut off valve to run water in the cup; no odor. I emptied the cup and filled the cup again, no odor. I reconnted the cold water supply line to the faucet and when I turned the faucet on the odor was present... I contacted Moen and they're replacing the valve and the short 8" plastic line that connects the valve to the faucet. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen/smelled it myself.

Hi RHM

Thanks for the update!

Yeah, we actually had a few complaints on this and moen replaced every faucet and supply line so you should be all set after this!

Good luck!
