Hello, I am a male and do not know where to turn. I'm so worried that a girl I was with is pregnant and want some more information. First, she has missed her period for at least 3-4 months then she said she got it. Now it's supposed to be due again and her period has not come. She has been having pregnancy symptoms like horrible headaches and she's never got them before and emotional things like she just starts crying or freaks out and minimal weight gain, she says 5 pounds. She took 2 home pregnancy tests, 1 blood test at some place, and another urine test at her regular doctor; all negative. Could she still be pregnant? Or what could be causing her to miss her periods and be having these symptoms? Please help

Hi KTttt,
Since all the pregnancy tests came back negative, it is unlikely that she is pregnant. It sounds as though she has irregular cycles, so missing a period here or there would not be a reliable indicator of possible pregnancy for her.
The symptoms she has had could sometimes be associated with premenstrual, those that occur prior to a period, even if that period never comes.
It is possible, if the tests were done too early, that she is pregnant, so she should wait until she would expect her next period and see what happens. If still no period, she can try another test at that time.
To lessen future worry, if you don't already, consider using two forms of birth control.

Thank you for your response. She took all the test's on the 3rd and 4th month of missing so It wasn't early. She had already missed 3 months then took them so wouldn't it really show up if she was? Thanks again.

Yes, it usually would have shown up by then, but she had a period after those missed ones, correct? It is possible that she became pregnant between the last period and this missed one.
She could wait a bit longer to see if it shows up late, then, if no period, try another test to see if she had become pregnant more recently. Again, it may just be due to her having irregular cycles, which some women do.
That might be something she could speak to her doctor about; ways to help regulate her cycle.

Yes but she hasn't had any sexual contact since August so she could not have got pregnant at that time. Im just worried about the time in August.

Ahhh, then she is likely not pregnant. It would be very, very unusual for a pregnancy not to be confirmed by now. It is most likely due to hormone changes as her body prepares for a period... again, even if that period does not show up. Hormones fluctuate throughout each month and some women experience more discomforts from them than others.
She really should speak to her doctor to see if a reason can be determined for her irregular cycles.

Many women do not have regular periods, and some hardly have any, it is not uncommon for some women to go two or three months without one, For some reason I get the impression you and her are fairly young, ( sorry if I am wrong) but would she have trouble getting going to the doctor?
From what you said, assuming it is all true, then it is doubtful she could be pregnant.

Thanks for the response, she has gone to the Doctor and I guess they are running a ton of tests on hormones and stuff like that? Also, she recently took a urine test at her doc and they said she's not pregnant. I just want to know the cause for these missed periods and symptoms. Thanks again.
