Hello. I am two days late for my period which is usually about 28 days apart. I have had sex once in the past month and a condom was used. I am nervous because I have had all the signs of getting my period the past week such as light cramps but still no period. In the last month I have been sick with a bad cold and was placed on Amoxicillin for tonsillitis for 10 days. I took a pregnancy test just to be sure and it was negative, so I am confused why I still haven't gotten my period and if being sick/antibiotics could just be delaying it.

It is possible that being ill recently has delayed your period. Wait another week and see what happens. If still no period, try another test, making sure that you follow the directions carefully.

If negative, see what happens next month when your period would be due. This month may be off altogether.

In the future, if you continue to have sex, you may want to consider two forms of birth control to lessen the odds of an unplanned pregnancy and lower the worry factor even more.
