I am 21yrs old and I haven't had a menstrual cycle in 2months. I have been having mild cramps on and off in different areas of my wombs. My discharge show up as thick, white, and odorless. However, a few days ago while taking a bath. I have seen a clear discharge with strains of blood. After that day, I haven't seen any bloody strains. Instead, it has went back to thick, white, and odorless discharge once again. Only thing I am having is mild cramps on and off. My breast are tender every now and then.. but not severe. Just a normal tender sensition that I tend to have when I normally have my menstrual cycles. These on and off cramps has been going on for 2months with no menstrual cycle and its worrying me. Only thing I have been craving is a whole lot of sweets and salty foods like I normally crave during the beginning of my cycle. If this is a impending menstrual cycle... please tell me what causes it?

It may be a period getting ready to start, but since you have now missed two periods, and you have tried a few pregnancy tests at home, it would be wise to see your doctor about a pregnancy test there.

If you aren't pregnant, other possibilities will be considered. Could be due to a hormone imbalance, could be you had a couple of off cycles and things will get back on track now.

Your doctor will discuss some options if it is deemed necessary to help you regulate your cycles.

What causes a hormone imbalance?

It can occur from a number of possible causes such as thyroid concerns, your pituitary gland, excessive weight, how your body responds to insulin, for example. Are you using any medications or herbal supplements?

If your cycles have always been around 49 days, then it may be what is normal for you. If this is something that has only started recently, then you may want to speak to your doctor about it.

Some women will naturally have only several periods a year. It would be a good idea to have it checked, however, to determine whether there is a medical reason causing it or if it is just your own pattern.
