I saw a movie a few years back, and I can't remember the name. The movie was black and white and most likely in the 40's or early 50's. It was about a ballerina in a dance company who falls in love with a guy she meets, who happens to be a soldier. They have a romance, and the female protagonist must make the decision to see the guy before he leaves, or dance at the big show for the dance company. She chooses to see the guy and gets fired when she misses the show. Her friend stands up for her and is fired too. Later on in the movie, the female protagonist gets word that the man she fell in love with was killed in battle. She is beside herself, and decides to join her friend, and become a prostitute. The ending of the movie starts when she is picking up soldiers as they are getting off the ships, and she runs into the guy. WIth all the guilt of being a prostitute, she jumps in front of a truck, and commits suicide. I'm still surprised at the ending for a movie in this time. Does anyone know the name, or any actors in the movie? It would be very helpful, thanks!
