Hello.. l have been on the pill for 26 years because I have endometriosis. I had my period as usual and about a week later I got it again, or what I thought was my period.. I was cramping and after a week I realized something is not right.. took a pregnancy test that came back positive , actually took 5, and then I went to the doctors. Their test came back negative but when I got home I took another and it was positive again. Had a blood test done which shows I am not pregnant but I still don't know what's wrong with me and why my tests Mae back positive and why I'm still bleeding And cramping. My doctor was VERY unhelpful which is why I'm trying to find a new one as we speak.

Hi Stefobs,

When you did the home tests, were you sure to read the tests in the time frame indicated on the tests? Sometimes women will read them later and that can sometimes result in what appears to be a positive. If you are unsure, try one more, making sure that you follow the directions carefully.

If you still get a positive, explain this to your doctor and ask about having a quantitative blood test done. This will detect an actual level of hcg, a hormone associated with pregnancy, instead of just giving a positive or negative result.

It would be extremely unusual to get a positive on a urine test but not on a blood test. The pill would not interfere with your test results either.

Do come back and let us know what happens.
