We are renting a house in Mount Clemens, Michigan. The other morning we received paperwork that said the house is going to be forclosed because of back taxes. The house is being foreclosed on March 31, 2012.
We finlly got our landlord to pick up his phone and he told us he's surprised the paperwork was dropped off to us in the first place because he said he had worked out a payment arrangement with Macomb county and to please mail the paperwork to him. I made a copy and mailed him his information.
Our first year we had a year lease but after that first year we've been paying rent month to month since.
Will we have to move immediately? If so how long do we have if the county takes over the house?
We are planning to move out in June 2012 but if we lose the house before we're ready that's a huge financial hit.
Is there anything we can do to buy us a little more time where we are at until we are ready to move?
