I take Metoprolol Succinate ER 50MG once per day. My prescription plan has moved this drug from Tier 1 to Tier 3 which results in an enormous price change. Is there a serious downside if I change to Metoprolol Tartrate? I realise that Succinate is extended release whereas Tartrate is immediate release. I also take other BP meds once per day so I doubt if the ER is essential.

You'll probably will have to take the Tartrate twice a day because it is immediate release so does not stay in the body as long as the Succinate. The fact that you are on other BP medications makes no difference. Metoprolol is a beta blocker other BP meds may be ACE inhibitors. They work differently to control your BP
