If your music is released under Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/) you can submit it to Rathole Radio (http://ratholeradio.org/).

Google Webmaster Tools will index your site if you sign up and fill out all their information. After that, select about 5-10 keywords that you want to represent your site in a search. Then weave those into your content and Google will crawl your site. In time, you will be indexed for those keywords. How high depends on the competition.

You might want to try Squidoo. It is a free platform where you can write and promote your own work. Even link back to your website add videos and photographs.
