I have had my second ear piercing for almost 3 months. The other day I removed my earrings because the were too tight. I then smelled my earrings and they had a smell to them so I cleaned them. I let the earrings stay out for 2 days and today I was going to put them back in. I successfully put one earring in but my left one wouldn't go in the hole. It started to bleed and I'm not sure if it's a keloid or if it's just closing up . HELP ME, IM SCARED.

You really have nothing to worry about; start cleaning the sore ear with a solution of sea salt and warm water and keep the earring in, moving it a little each time.

You can't keep taking them out, each time you do, the rings become infected. Clean them once with 3% peroxide and LEAVE THEM IN, turning them and cleaning your ear lobe, or whatever part of your ear the piercing is,

Don't clean them with proxide. It is best to use hot water and regular soap. I was informed by one of my friends that pierced ears usually stink. This is because it is another hole on your body that can push out unneeded materials. After some time it does get better

Regular soap can become contaminated if it lays around on the sink for washing hands; soap was not made to disinfect. If you are using soap to clean a pierced site it must be kept for that use only, otherwise you will be infecting over and over again.

Your information is erroneous Cheeze, pierced ears have an odor, although to small to notice only if they are extremely infected.

'Another hole in your body that can push out unneeded materials', what does this mean actually? A hole in the body becomes contaminated, unable to heal from unhygienic treatment of the site and exudes the body's own healing properties to destroy the contaminants.

It is a well known medical fact that a solution of sea salt and warm water assist in the disinfecting and healing process.

No one mentioned peroxide, but yes, not a good idea to use cleaning piercings.

Taking earrings in and out (even if you do this 10 times a day - it will irritate the hole but) does not cause infection as long as the jewellery that you reinsert is clean.

Even if your piercings are well established (healed a long time) it is still very possible that they can close up and make it difficult to reinsert your jewellery - even after just a few hours.

Piercings do smell... even if they are not infected and can (and do on occasions) smell very strongly. This is a build up of dead skin cells and sebum. Gentle, everyday cleaning with salt water or plain water when you have your shower will keep this to a minimum. http://www.livestrong.com/article/232857-why-do-my-pierced-ears-smell/

Good Luck and don't panic!
