Hi, thanks for reading my question. Have been trying to find this myself on the internet for a long time with no success.
Not sure of many details, film was only watched once when I was younger. Okay here goes:
Genre - Romance (with a bit of Action!)style of movie reminds me of Georgette Heyer's novels
Timeframe - Around the time of the French uprising when aristocrats were living in fear of the gulliotione.
Plot - Firstly there are three main characters in the plot, heroine who is french, sure that she is a aristocrat and living her life normally, but somehow meets the hero who is either an aristocrat hiding out in the forest with a band of men, can't recall if they are robin hood style robbers, or aristocrats hiding out, but I seem to think the rest of the band were commoners only... And then there is the bad guy whom the heroine has to live a life of subterfage from as he his a high up aristocrat and I'm also fairly sure that he has ties to the army also? As I seem to recall him ordering soldiers around. Of Course the bad guy tries to pursue the heroine who is actually in love with the hero and they keep meeting secretly but have lots of close calls where he nearly gets caught.
Scenes - There is only a couple of scenes I can recall.
There is a scene in a hat shop or something like that where the herione and possibly her chaperone is involved somehow is in a clandestine meeting with the hero when the baddy the french noble rocks up with the army behind him and searchs for the bad guy who is hiding out somewhere in the shop (in a basket?) but the herioine has to play it cool and keeps on trying hats...
And the other scene must be towards the end, as the baddy and the goody fight an awesome duel... can't recall any particular details about that scene!
Black and white with English subtitles
Note - Just in advance, I don't think the movie I'm thinking of is the same as the Scarlet Pimpernel as I seem to remember that all the characters were french (hence no english man playing the scarlet pimpernel) but I'm going to hire it out today just to make sure.
THANKS THANKS THANKS in advance, absolutely will be thrilled if someone can make sense of my ramblings and come up with trumps with the title of this film! :)
