I got a 240 volt electric stove, what size wire and breaker should I be using?

On the specification plate for the stove is the AMP or possibly Watt rating. Something like 240V/40Amps or 240V/8,000 wattts. Tell us what it says. Typically, they are installed with a 50 Amp double pole breaker, 6/3 AWG to a receptacle and then 6/3 for the cord set.

Most stoves are wired with copper 6/3 AWG. That wire size should be the safest way to go. It's always better to oversize a little at times. You never know if you will replace the stove some years later and you would not want to have to re-wire it for more amperage. DrTom4444
