I am 9 days late. At 5 days late I took a home test and a blood test, both were negative. I am having symtoms- naseauted, dizzy spells, peeing more, lower back pain on saids, and cramping like I am going to start my period. Even though the blood test came out negative is it possible for it to be false negative. Could I be pregnant?

Hi elizabeth143... normally a blood test would be very accurate at this point, but yes, it is possible a pregnancy hasn't been picked up.

I would give it several more days and see if your period is just off and starts late this cycle. If still no period, and still having possible symptoms, you could ask about having another blood test done.

This time, however, ask about having a quantitative blood test that will detect the level of hcg and not just provide a positive or negative result.
