View Full Version : Who should be the first to contact each other during a "break" phase?

My girlfriend and I recently had a discussion of our relationship where she mentioned she was confused about things. She said she needed time to think about things. I had no dispute and agreed saying take your time to think about things. I receive that as a time to take a "break" in the relationship. So I assumed we wouldn't be talking for a period. To my surprise I received a text from her the next day asking about how my day went. She also mentioned in the text that she would call me later that day. This was a bit confusing for me given I expected her wanting time to herself to "think". Nonetheless I responded to her text and suggested that we probably shouldn't talk until later in the week.. allowing her more time to think about things. She responded by saying "ok sure we can chat later in the wee..". So now the week is almost over and I haven't heard from her. My question is should I make contact first or should I wait for her? I don't want to press on her so I'm a bit hesitant to contact her, but at the same time it was my suggestion to wait until the end of the week to chat. Any suggestions on the best approach?

Since it was your suggestion to call her at the end of the week, you SHOULD do it.
As soon as it was fairly clear from you side that you will call her and not just "hey, we talk later this week"!

A man should always keep his promises to a woman, and if you said to call her then do it for sure.
In case you don't call her (as you "promised") she will start makinge ideas with her mind.. .

Give her a call, and just be calm and relaxed, talk and see how see moves into the conversation.

I would say whoever first established a break was needed. She might just think you meant YOU want more time, when you mentioned it. I would just wait for her call. If it's another week, then YOU should.

Well, you can wait for a few more days, and if she still hasn't contacted you then you should talk to her first if you really want to talk to her. Keep it to a casual "hey" or some variation of that, and see if she responds. If not, then let her be for a while. Good luck
