\frac{36}{100} \times \frac{1}{6}

You can either start simplifying here or multiply straight away.

Multiply straight away gives:

\frac{36\times 1}{100\times 6}

Which you can do easily, then simplify later on.

Simplifying first, you have to take out the common factors. For example, 36 and 6 share the factor 6, and 36 divided by 6 gives 6:

\frac{^6\cancel{36}}{100} \times \frac{1}{\cancel{6}_1}

Then, another common factor is between 6 and 100, which is 2. Dividing both by 2 gives 3 and 50 respectively.

\frac{^{^3\cancel{6}\cancel{36}}}{_{50}\cancel{100 }} \times \frac{1}{\cancel{6}_1} = \frac{3\times 1}{50\times1}
