I have just started re plumbing my home and I am using pex pipe with shark bite connections. I have heard the pros but are there any cons for using shark bite?

The only thing I don't like is the way you can rotate the fitting. For example, I put one on an exposed copper pipe, connecting a hose bib. Bib would rotate around the pipe.

So far, we have only positive experience with Shark Bite type fittings. Price would be the only "problem" I would complain about today. We use them on every day bases for repairs and remodels with nothing but success. They save time and are very (very) handy when doing repairs in crawls spaces on burst copper pipes.

Make sure you don't "scratch" PEX pipe while pulling it through drilled holes in studs and then try to put Shark Bite fitting on to it. If you do, it will drip through the scratch. Pipe has to be clean, w/o any scratches, dents, bents, and/or kinks to maintain positive seal.

Yeah, agree with the above... price is biggest issue and I don't like them in concealed locations (unless hung well), but still I would prefer to see you using proper PEX fittings here instead of sharkbite... just costs way too much money compared to PEX fittings.

Here, if you can find a place that sells the PEX pipe, they will have the fittings and may be able to rent you the tools needed to complete the job fast/easy. If they won't rent the tools then you are definitely best to stick with the sharkbites.
