My son and his partner have an 18 month old baby girl who is beautiful. We are having a celebration for my other son's birthday at home and his partner says he can come, she is too busy but he can't bring the baby. When they come together she doesn't get up until lunchtime and the baby sleeps in our room and we look after her. We see them rarely as they are a long way away. Litle one spends a lot of time staying over at her mothers. I don't understand why my son can't bring his daughter here. Any advice

What does your son say about it? Is he OK with the arrangement? If not, he needs to share his thoughts on the matter with his partner. Has a reason been given?

What sort of relationship do you have with his partner? Could you say something to the effect: "I am so sorry that you can not make it over, but we are looking forward to having little "Sarah" come visit with "Dan".

It sounds like the partner is in control and the boss of where the baby goes. This is an issue you need to discuss with your son.
