This has no allen screws and was installed in 2005 when the house was built. I went from an occasional drip to a steady drip. I looked at all the local stores and they do not carry the cartridge. So, I ordered one online. Now, how to install it properly?

Hi Betygramma

Here is a video showing you the basics involved in working with a delta shower valve. Your valve will break down in a very similar manner.

Here is another video showing a conversion from the 1400 series to the 1700 series... should help some more here:

Let me know if you have questions,OK?

Thanks, the videos helped a lot. Can you tell me how long does a cartridge usually last?

They can fail in a day or last 25 years, I've had both. Cartridges fail when seals or O rings wear out but can also fail when debris clogs them. This can be dislodged during installtion but a clog usually can be cleared out

It probably made a difference because I had a water softener installed a month ago. I didn't find any debris when I took it apart, but I had a ****ens of a time getting those little spring seals staying in there when I put everything back together. Thanks for all your help. When I get the new parts I can't wait to do it the right way instead of like I did last time!

Dear Sirs The 1700 Shower faucet was instaled but now the hot water is not working as usual. Down in the kitchen (first floor) sometimes to get hot water takes a long time and in the other bathroom also. What can I do to fix this problem? Please send aid, Thanks

Hi Alexis

First thing to try would be to remove the cartridge and rotate it 180 degrees... sounds like it was put in backward. Let us know if that fixes things, OK?
