I am 27. Me and my husband are trying to get pregnant. I was on birth control for a couple years and came off it about 6 months ago or so. I have been irritable and have had sore breasts and nipples for almost two weeks now. All pregnancy tests have been negative. I have had some stomach cramping but nothing big. I figured it was that time of month but my periods are very irregular. I don't get periods monthly. I have never been pregnant before so I don't know what to expect as every women's different. What are the chances of being pregnant?

It's possible, but since your cycles are irregular, it is also possible it is due to that. You could keep trying a pregnancy test every other week or so, or you could see your doctor and ask about having a blood test done.

Most couples will become pregnant within the first year of actively trying. Some will naturally take a bit longer, so while it seems like a long time, because you are really wanting it to happen, it is not unusual that you have not become pregnant yet. With irregular cycles, your chances obviously go down a bit, simply because there are fewer opportunities for a pregnancy to occur. It could happen in the next couple of months, it might take much longer.

Maybe talk to your doctor about trying to determine if there is a reason for the irregular cycles. For some women there can be a cause, which may be rectified, for other women it is just the norm for them.

Watch for changes in your cervical mucus... more fluid, clear discharge is often associated with preparing to ovulate. You could try ovulation tests, but that can be expensive with irregular cycles. Of course frequent sex throughout each cycle can increase the chances in regard to timing.

Hope it happens soon for you!
