This puppy has no mother, the mother died 3 days after pups were born. I've had this puppy a little over a week now and the puppy has not poop but once and I'm thinking that's because I didn't put water in the milk, I've called a vet and they suggested rubbing him but that doesn't seam to be working, any suggestions?

Take a warm moist cloth and gently rub his bottom. Do this maybe six times, quit, then maybe five minutes later do it again. Repeat. His mom would do that with her tongue.

I hope you are feeding him puppy milk from the pet store or maybe goat's milk, but NOT cow's milk.

The puppy hasn't pooped in over a week and the vet just told you to rub it's tummy? How strange.

What milk are you using? I will echo Wondergirl I hope it is not cows milk you are giving dogs can't handle cows milk in general and a puppies stomach is even more sensitive than an adults.

I agree with WG's method, warm damp washcloth and rub the anus and gently massage the belly, it mimics the mothers tongue and how she stimulates them.
At 3 weeks they should be pooping on their own but this pup obviously needs a little help.

If that fails then it is off the vet to allow them to make the pup poop manually.

Normally the mother would be able to sense when her puppies need her... Try using a damp tissue or baby wipe and massage his bottom with it... Ino sounds weird but will help the pup pass poop and pee... If this doesn't help go to your nearest vet for advice... He will probley do the same technic for the pup so it should work for you.. I've had to do this with a litter of puppies before because the mother rejected them after birth... Be pationet and it should work... Good luck and let me know how you get on :)
