She's a beautiful dog. I crated her from the beginning but then after I "thought" she was house broken, I let her out of the crate. She has "her" special place and at night after we go to sleep she will pee on my scatter rug. Help! I don't know what to do. I don't want to crate her again. She's been out of it too long. Any thoughts?

Crate her again at night, I know you would like to let her out while you are sleeping but there really is no need to.
While you are asleep, she is also asleep so being in a crate and having free run makes no difference.
In the wild dogs will sleep in a den, and a crate is just a lockable version of a den. I have 2 of my own dogs sleeping on the bed with me but the third is always crated at night, she just can't be trusted and probably never will be.
When you give them free reign of the house overnight, any little noise or smell will make them get up and investigate, and as walking stimulates their need to potty that's when you have accidents.
By crating they soon learn that if they hear a noise they can't go see what it is so there's no walking and stimulating and they just go back to sleep.

I have a mini poodle also and they both sleep with me, some people say it's wrong to let the dogs in bed with me. I am under the covers, they are on top. Your answer was helpful for sure but i will feel bad! I know, i know they are not human but i live in vermont and sometimes it's a "THREE DOG NIGHT". Thank you!

Funny coincidence, the one I have to lock in the crate overnight is a mini poodle!
I have the crate in the bedroom with me next to the bed so she is still with me, without actually being 'with me'.
She loves her crate, as soon as I get her biscuit out of the cupboard she runs and puts herself to bed. If you feel bad buy some of her favourite treats and only give her one of those when it is bed time, that way she is being rewarded for going in the crate.

How ironic, my dauchand puts hershelf to bed too! This is getting to be to funny. When she gets tired, she wants out and then when we get in she will go to the bedroom and jump on the bed. At first, I made her come back with her "pack" so to speak. But now, after a few minutes I will tell her it's OK and to go to bed and she is off and running! It's funny really. But I will definitely try the crate. Thank you for such in site.
