I resigned my position at work last March because I was caught on tape stealing money out of the tntil from my employer. I was there for 13 years. The reason for stealing was I became addicted to Cocaine (I was not in my right mind) I am a 47 year old female with allot of regrets and remorse. They are charging me with 9 counts of theft under $5000.00 as I just got my summons 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been going to counseling. When they approached me they said I could resign with an OK letter of reference (which they did) and now their throwing this at me.. What are your thoughts if any?

I think you will be lucky not to do at least some jail time. Also I doubt your work place will actually give you a good reference.

They gave me a good letter of reference already... So your saying I may do time in jail?

With that many counts I can't see them not making you do a few weeks to a month and on probation, but it will be probation at least.

Also a letter of reference is a lot different than reference if called. But that is to be seen, Now how any company I have ever known works. Esp after some years and managers change.

Depends on the evidence but often a plea agreement can be done so there is no jail time

I would die if I had to do jail time... Stupid things we do when we have an addiction...

Update-

Went to court last week and I'm on a conditional sentence. Four months on curfew, 10pm-6am. One year after that probation for 1 year. Criminal record which I can apply to be withdrawn after 2 years and 4 months. I also have to pay back a small amount which I took. So I'm sure it could have been worse but the judge could see how remorseful I was...
