I have a new shower tap shroud that's stuck on a small piece of piping. As the pipe is full wound into the shroud, I'm unable to mount it onto the wall cartridge, so it just sits loosely flush on the wall. The other tap shroud needs the pipe to be wound down about halfway so its able to get a firm grip onto the wall cartridge.

Would anyone be able to help me with some suggestions on getting the shroud loose? WD40 seems to have no effect, though I'm considering spraying and letting it set overnight. I've trying alternating boiling water and cold water, but not much luck there either.

I'm assuming the forward facing hexagonal face has gotten stuck inside the shroud, rather than just the thread being worn.

Thanks in advance :D

Hi FSD

The one thing that would guarantee to resolve this would be to go out and purchase an EASY OUT tool (two different kinds) and a RUBBER STRAP WRENCH (see images).

You'd then hold the chrome cover with the strap wrench (protects the chrome finish and holds against you) and insert the easy out tool into the brass nipple connector and then take a pair of pliers and spin the easy out which should grab the nipple and spin it out pretty effortlessly... ;)

Another way to remove this may be to take a hacksaw blade and make two small grooves on the inside of the brass nipple connector and then see if you have a wood chisel that can span the inside of the nipple and sit in the grooves snuggly so you can hold the chrome cover and try to spin the brass connector out.

Try these things.. let me know what happens, OK?
