We do not have a manual for our water softener. The tenent added too much salt. What can we do to remedy this? The water is slimy.

I have no idea what size or make softener you are asking about.

Water softeners can make water feel "slimy"...

In terms of the tenant adding too much salt, it seems that the brine tank is meant to be filled to the top when I read the instructions so I can't really say what the issue is here.

Short of removing some of the added salt I would suggest that you call the master softener company yourself and see if they can help directly, OK?

Check them out @ Master Water Products (http://www.masterwater.com/main/cms_products.asp?MenuLevel=Product&ProductID=112#Product)

Good luck!

The "slimy feeling" is the water softener working! You can not add too much salt either. There is no way to adjust for degrees of soft water. It is either soft or hard period. If you run the softener low or out of salt it defeats the purpose of the water softener, to remove hard water minerals and iron!
So the salt tank should always be at least 1/2 full of salt to properly regenerate the system.

I don't think "..too much salt.." has anything to do with "slimy water". If you have computerized panel on your softener that you can adjust Water Softness. That's what I would suggest you do.. Back to you.. Milo
