The doctor says I may have early appendicitis, how do they test for it? Dose any one know what it feels like to have an appendix burst? And how does the surgery work? Thanks and I hope mine doesn't burst, I am waiting on blood test results and I am going to have an ultrasound on firday

My husband's appendix burst and he was in intensive care for 5 days.

Hope you don't have an appendix burst. They usually check for elevated white cell counts coinciding with pain in the lower right quadrant or at the belly button. If the appendix is whole, surgery is relatively minor and you can go home the next day or so. If the appendix bursts, you will most likely be in the hospital for a few more days until they are sure peritonitis hasn't set in. I had my appendix out in 1947, uncomplicated surgery and I was in the hospital 7 days!
