I have a Sony compact AV System DAV-FC9. My husband was watching a DVD when the power went out cause of a storm. Now the unit won't come out of the standby mode. You press the power button and it flashes and the disk # 4 flashes on the tray that the DVD is in. It came on once for a second, but went back off? Please help me if you can, and suggestions?

The unit likely needs repair. Try unplugging it for a while, then plugging it back in and see if that helps. If not, then you probably better off purchasing a new unit as repair will most likely exceed the cost of a new unit.
