Hi members,

On Diwali, I purchased an microwave oven for the family. Its branded one, of LG. But, before we were to begin enjoying the dishes prepared in this, I heard of a news, in which it was claimed that the dishes prepared in microwave oven can lead one to nothing less than CANCER. This shocked me all the more, when I read it in one news item too. Is it a fact, that the microwave oven is a cause or can be a cause of CANCER, and should I dispose off the microwave oven? Or, are there any precautions? We prepare cake, sort of boil potatoes and maize. Please expain.

If used correctly it is perfectly SAFE.

I'll bet you almost every house in the USA has a microwave and many have 2. Most cancer rates are going down. You should be careful microwaving food in soft plastic containers. Use only microwave approved dishes.

Assuming they are made to the same standards as the ones sold in the US, they are safe.

Can someone tell me if I by chance, or incidently/accidently use it wrongly, is there any chance of CANCER? And, can someone throw light on, as to what are the waves at work in a microwave oven?

What can be implications or effects on health by the food, prepared in microwave oven, if it is not properly used, as even as I ensure to use it perfectly right, TO ERR IS HUMAN. So, just let me know, if I am not digging a grave for me and my family, whom I love the most in the world?

Seriously if you do MOST thing incorrectly either through usage or ingestion you MIGHT contract cancer.
So stop worrying unduly otherwise you will never set foot outside of your house and would possibly live out you merge existence in a sealed bubble.

There has no no conclusive evidence that exposure to a microwave oven causes cancer. We've been using one daily for over 30 years.

A microwave is a non ionizing high frequency radio wave, like radar. It does not have any "atomic" radiation in it.

No metal should be used in a microwave.
