View Full Version : Can I replace a heat/cooling control board with relays?

Recently had a HVAC Tech replace the elements and all sequencers and limits for the heating side of my Nordyne E1E-015A HA. When he finished nothing would work, so he called another Tech in to check things out. He ended up hooking up a relay from the T-stat wires on the top of the control box so that the Air side would work.

Now that it has started getting colder around here, I went into the heater armed with the wiring diagram. I found several wires that were incorrectly hooked up (yes they also had the diagram). Since I have wired it accordly nothing will work. I do have the 24V working through the sequencers and through the T-stat.

Now to the question I have seen the price of the control board ($122.00 shipping). Since the Tech has already installed one relay for the air side. What would I need to do to set up a relay for the heat side and do away with the control board all together? Would I tie my T-stat wires like they are on top of control board red tored and 24V and so on?

I know it's best to use the control board, but the cost is too much for me right now, Plus when Techs got finished I ended up so far with over $1100.00 in it and still not right.

Please help and thanks in advance
