I have a wall mount ritetemp gas heater, with the blower option also. It worked fine last winter, but when I hooked it up this year it is giving me problems. This is not my area of expertise to say the least.
It has the push button pilot lighter and that works fine but it won't let me turn the heater up without it going out. I warmed the thermocouple manually with lighter and that allowed me to turn gas up to allow heater to work. After a about a minute it shuts it self down, pilot light and all. It has another hole in the side of the fitting before the end of the pilot light. When a flame lights from this opening is when it shuts down. I didn't ever notice this before but it always worked before also. Just not sure if it's the thermocouple or if it's the safety device shutting it down. Shouldn't be a problem with fresh air, but I'm not sure how it determines if it needs air or not. Any professionals out there with any advice?
