We have a 1997 mobile home and have not made payments for 4 monthes beause we cannot afford them. They are 500 per month. Finace company said they were coming to get... then they decided they didn't want it, so they want us to make an offer on it to pay it off. If we could not come up with a lump sum to make an offer they would take action for the debt. So what to do? I cannot afford payments, I cannot afford to payoff.

This is a real predicament as the finance company now does not want this home either. Have seen this in the past as the finance company has already gotten their money back from your payments and now want to get more money from you. It will take them a few months before they retain a local attorney to file repo paperwork in the Court and have you removed from the home. More likely even after you are gone from the home they will not be able to sell it either. It will take a hearing before a judge and then the judge will give you a deadline in which to move out. This entire process can take months to accomplish. In the meantime plan on somewhere else to live.

Figure out exactly how much you have already paid out to the loan company and tell them I've paid X dollars to you over X years. And the home originally costs X dollars. I can't pay anything else to your company. And since you don't want it, let me have it. May just work, may not. Worth a try. The reason they didn't come and get it is because to move a mobile home (prepare the home to be moved, disconnect all utilities, get axles and wheels if needed) and then move it to another location can cost in the neighborhood of $5K.
