Hi I wanted to know if anyone knew if I needed my sons real father to sign over his rights for my boyfriend to adopt but here is the thing his real father saw him once the day he came home from the hosptial and my son is now 3 going to be 4 and that was it I don't get any child support from him and he didn't even come to the hospital to sign the birth certificate.my boyfriend has been with my son since he has been born.so I was wondering if I even needed him to sign over papers when he is not even on his birth certificate and I don't get any money from him.

Yes the bio father has to formally relinquish his rights. I also think you may have some problems having your boyfriend approved for adopting. Most family courts want a more stable relationship.
