My 600 foot well pump continues to overload and pop its system protection button. If I push the reset at the bottom of the control box that sits at the top of the pipe, it runs for a couple of minutes then pops off again. When this first occurred it would leak a lot of water as it started up and I could hear it filling the storage tank. Now it trickles and I hear no water going into my tank. Do I need to prime the pipe of the pump. 600 ft of empty pipe probibly needs a lot of pressure to rise it all that way but if it is full does it make it easier?

You don't need to prime your pump. Your pump is in the well and you don't prime submerged pumps.

What do you mean when you say, "When this first occurred it would leak a lot of water as it started up..." Where was it leaking?

How old is the pump?

If your pump is 600' down, then it sounds like you are looking at getting professional help unless something relatively simple can be found.

Pump motor or control box? It's for sure you have a problem with one of them. I advise pulling a submersible pump only as a last resort.
Get someone in with a Amp-Probe to see how many amps you're pulling at startup and go from there. Good luck, Tom
