Hi, we rented a place recently & found out that this basement apartment doesn't get any cell phone signal & wireless internet. We want to add our own internet but since this house already have one, our interent provider can't add another line unless we pay a huge monthly bill to share the internet with landlord. Also we had to buy a cell phone booster so that we have phone service but without high speed internet that don't work either. We already pay $700 per mont for our two bedroom which I think we additional cost generating is just too much for this apartment. Can we get out of lease?

No, no cell coverage is not a deal breaker. Why did you not notice this when you looked at the unit? I would be surprised if any tenants get free internet service, look into having your ISP set up a line would be my advice.

I agree, you may have to get your own internet ( it is not that high to get it installed and monthly fee) if you lived in any of my properties you would have to install your own.
In fact in apartments you would not be allowed to tap in on another persons interent nor should you expect to.
Cell phone is not a requirement, I get no cell phone at my office ( no idea why) but I have to walk outside to use my phone.

I am not sure if I understand.
You would have to have your own account with the ISP. Unless the lease provides otherwise, you have no right to share someone else's Internet connection. But are you saying that to set up an account would, in addition to a connect fee, cost significantly more per month than a "normal" account?

Agreed, they don't "share" with land lord, they get a new line ran for their apartment. Just like you do at any apartment

Who told you about adding the Internet? Assuming you are using broadband through a cable TV provider, you have 2 options, either share the signal with landlord (which means you pay a portion of his bill so it wouldn't be a huge bill) or you get your own line at the same cost.
In either case, it would not be enough to get you out of lease unless the lease specified that you received Internet.

If you get a broadband connection through the phone lines you will need a wireless router so you can use your wireless internet connection. Not too big a deal to get. And as for your cell phone not working in the basement, you're on your own to figure that out. Try using a land line when you are in the apartment instead.
