So I just moved to another city with some family right after I graduated high school. I've been at my new job for the last two months. But $7.25 isn't really enough to make a living off. I'm staying with a family member for a year until I could get my own apartment. I really like my job and don't want to leave and I don't know how else I would get a better paying job. I'm trying really hard to get a promotion at my job. I would feel bad for asking for a raise. But if I don't have my own place in a year I have to move back to my old city with my parents and I really don't like that city. I feel more content with life where I'm at now but I wish my job paid better. My sister keeps telling me that I work too hard for only making minimum wage and that if I work less ill probably get a promotion. What should I do to get a promotion? I've been taught everything at this job and I've only been there two months and my mangers all seemed pleased with the work that I do.

You're probably still on probation. Does the pay increase once probation is over with? Is there a company policy manual or booklet or brochure? Or ask. If your work is good, your managers will be pleased you're interested in sticking around.

I haven't heard anything about a pay increase once the probation is over. The company policy manual mentions nothing of the sort either. I know people who have been there for the last six months and do the same things I do and didn't get increases
