View Full Version : Drainage problems

I just moved into a house. I have city sewer. If I run the water in the kitchen sink too long (ie. Doing dishes), it drains fine at first, but will eventually leak from under the sink around the garbage disposal unit. Along with this problem, right next to the kitchen is my garage. The washer and dryer are out here. When the washer has to drain, the water goes down the standpipe, but only for a split second and then is spraying up everywhere. It gives the impression that it is blocked maybe 5 inches from the top of the pipe. I had a plumber come out and he told me that he had it "fixed" by using a snake that went in the cleanout about 50feet. I had the same problems again within 2 hours after he left. What could be causing these problems? Could they be related? I'm thinking that there may be a clog deeper than 50 feet or that he didn't push it far enough to the sewer with the snake. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
