My last period started on September 15th and ended on September 20th. The day I ended, like no bleeding at all, I had unprotected sex. This was the 3rd day into my new birth control pack. This is my fourth month on Lutera birth control. I religiously take my birth control at the same time, everyday. Then on the third week, I missed Thursday without even realizing and had unprotected sex that night. I woke up late and took both of the pills around 2-3 hours after my usual time that I take my birth control. That day, Friday, I took plan B. It is now October 14th and I should have gotten my period on the 13th. I took a HPT and it came back negative but I'm going to take another one in 5 days.

I've had cramping as well for about 5 days, it feels like my period is coming but I've read that people expect their period and it never comes because they're pregnant. I had some tenderness in my breasts but it has since gone away.

I've heard that stress can make you have a delayed period and I've been under so much stress concerning with issues with family and the stress of college. And on top of that I'm stressing because of this whole situation, it's all I think about and I can't relax because it's freaking me out :(.

Today, the 14th, I had brown discharge and later some light bleeding. Is this a sign of pregnancy, like implantation? Or is it just a late and really light period because of Plan B and missing pills?

HELP, please! :(

Hi cw1523,

I understand your worry. While pregnancy will be a possibility, given you are having sex, odds are low since you have been taking the pill consistently (for the most part anyway).

It is likely that your period is just off slightly and is about to start.

Continue taking your pills on schedule. If no regular period in the next few days, give it another week and see what happens. Test at that time if need be. Make sure you follow the directions carefully. If negative, see what happens when you would expect your period the next month and test again if necessary... or you could see your doctor about having a blood test. Between the stress and the plan b, your cycle may be out of sync and just needs to regulate.

Thank you so much for your reply, I ended up getting my period later that night. I think results of having a negative HPT, even though I took it early, brought down my stress and just gave me a little bit of time to relax. Phew, thank you again!
