Mower won't crank. New battery

19 1/2 horse power briggs and stratton motor. New battery. Will not crank.
Gathering info now to be ready to fix mower if I can.

. Disconnect negative battery cable.

. Clean battery terminals and cable connections. Ensure connections are tight.

. Remove and replace solenoid/starter motor.

New mower batteries frequently need to be charged for a number of hours, prior to being used. Only charge at 2 amps--higher rates will damage the battery.
