My shower head was dripping and after the plumber came, it is now streaming. He says he repalced thes stems, the valves and the seat. What could be the problem?

More details please. One handle or two/three knobs? What's the brand name? Is your diverter on the spout or the valve? Do you know your house PSI? Back to you, Tom

Two knobs no tub. When I replaced the old knobs last summer I was sold generic brand knobs because I was told that knobs I brought in were no longer available. What is PSI? I think the diverter is on the valve. Tried to upload pictures but the upload failed.

Hi Mamatiff
I would suggest that you call the plumber back and have him remove the stem assemblies and purge the lines of any sediment/debris that may have gotten stuck up in the body of the valve. Most likely, as long as the correct parts were used, this will resolve the issue.
Good luck!

Thank you. The owner of the company is coming back out tomorrow and he said he will replace the seats again at their expense. Mind you, according to my bill the seats were replaced on Monday. He said if that doesn't work the brass valve inside the wall is simply worn out and will need to be replaced. We are talking about a complete shower replacement because my shower is one piece and backs up to a second shower. I called the first plumber back on Monday because the shower head would drip off and on no matter how far I turned the knobs. He spent hours flushing the water, polishing and cleaning the stems. By the time he left, the slow drip had turned into a stream of water and he left with it that way. The owner of the company came out on Tuesday and was not able to stop the leak. Based on my research and visits to Lowe's and Home Depot I get the impression that the correct parts were not used.
I am trying to make myself an educated consumer so that I am not taken advanged of.
