Hello everybody! My name is Andr?(C)s, I'm 16 and I'm from Argentina. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what career should I study, and I think you can help me. Most of you are probably studying some career or working, so I was wondering- what if you guys type down your career, and give me some information about it. What do I need to study that, what's the work like, your opinions, explain to me a little bit about what do you do...
That would help me a lot people... {offline contact request removed}
Thank you very much!
PD: I apologize for the obvious spelling mistakes and stuff, not my main language :P

Questions are posted here and answered here. We don't go off the Board.
Picking a career on someone else's recommendation is not a good idea. What are your interests? How much additional education can you afford, do you plan on? What are your strong points?
I think your question was easy to understand, well written - no need to apologize at all for English being your second language. I'm not sure I would have known!

Well, my strong points are... Comprehensive reading, (sadly not that common at my age) writing, talking with people... For example, I don't know how is education over there, but in Argentina, we don't have a classroom for every subject. We have a classroom for every group of students, and I'm the one that represents my class when it comes to the relation we have with the authorities of the institution. Anyway, I also consider myself a creative person, that's why I've been considering publicity. People tell me I would be a great lawyer or politician, but I don't know if that's what I like. I've also considered being a Journalist, Graphic designer or even something software related.
The reason why I asked you to tell me about your careers and jobs is because I don't have enough knowledge about it, so you may give me and idea. I'd never let someone else decide my career, I just think it's much better to learn about careers from common people's statements, because it's the closest to reality I can get, and it's much easier for me to understand what really involves a career.
I've already tried this by talking with a Peruvian publicist by Skype, and he really helped me, I learnt a lot!
So, if anyone can contact me and has some time for talking... :

Thank you for visiting our site and posting your very interesting question here.
As I look back on my life, I can tell you that deciding on a career at your age really isn't that "important." Yes, study what you love and think seriously about what you want to study in college, but don't obsess over it and getting into the "right" career.
I started as a teacher, quit that full time and just subbed, meanwhile worked in a bookstore, at two hospitals, for an insurance company, at two drugstores, and then stayed home for twelve years to raise two children. Once they were in school all day, I had to figure out what to do next. I decided to shelve books at a public library for a few months while I contemplated my next career move. Thirty years later, I am able to look back on a satisfying life having been a librarian and a professional counselor (had gone to grad school for those). The teacher-librarian-counselor careers all dovetailed nicely in Libraryland, and I have absolutely no regrets.
Figure out what you love to do. Take an interest test and the Myers-Briggs to help you figure out who you are. And my golden piece of advice to you is that you are never obliged to be in only one career.

Thank you very much, Wondergirl, for your answer. Your answer with your experience was very helpful for me. I'll do some research for that Myers-Briggs test!
