I've been trying to get myself going, that is, gym, yoga, meditation.. I have all the tools, it's how to get off the sofa and DO IT! I was doing so well and then in summer went on holiday to Canada for 2 months, bad weather, so couldn't get out to walk etc, and my efforts to lose weight, and the hard work I'd done with a personal trainer for 2 months all went down the tubes, now my arms are back to flab, fat, etc.. and I just feel so bad... I know I have to for myself, but how to push oneself.. it's not easy...

A few things help me get motivated.

The first thing is results. Obviously this is a bit difficult since you don't start seeing results until you've actually began. But I take a benchmark of where I start. I take measurements of my size (weight, arm circumference, waist, etc) and how many basic exercises I can do in a minute each. For example, after warming up, I'll time myself for a minute to see how many push ups I can do, how many suicide drills, etc. I also take photos. I do this every other week and keep track of how I improve.

The next thing is having someone else to work with. Together we get on each other to go to the gym and workout together. The more people, the better since you don't need everyone else, but chances are one person in the group will find the motivation and help get others going.

And finally, I simply set aside time and put an alarm on my phone. I cut myself off from things like TV and my video games. I set my TV to automatically shut down and my computer to go to sleep. That way I am just about forcing myself to go and work out. Set a schedule and go do it the same time every day.
