I just moved back into my parents place (I know, total winner. Oh,did I mention I'm single ladies?) Since I have lived here previously, a tapping has started. This tapping happens randomly, day or night, and can be heard at any given point in the house. However, We have pinpointed the tapping to the east side of the house. The wall has no pipes in it, and nothing attached to it. Also, there are no animals around. (We checked vigorously) Suggestions?

If you're looking for a paranormal explanation, I did a bit of research online for you. There are thousands of stories and accounts related to tapping and knocking on walls, both during the night and in the day. Most were said to be spirits trying to communicate with someone inside the house.

Another explanation, there could be something in the walls. Maybe rats? Lol.

Chris, while animals typically do not make a tapping sound in the walls, it is possible. I lived in a house where little squirrels spent the night in my walls... not fun. While I believe wholeheartedly in the paranormal, I'd do as much checking around for a normal explanation as possible. I know my in-laws had a tapping around for a long time that went unexplained. Turns out is was the incoming aerial cable TV line and if the wind blew slightly it would brush the service sloop against the house. If you can't think of anything and believe it might be paranormal in nature, let us know... we can help there as well ;)
