My husband got me this plant a couple years ago and he was told to just spray it w/ water once a week and it would survive. Well I don't know if its supposed to look like this (the leaf things were green when I got it), let alone what its name is. Help please? He was also told that it would grow a flower but it hasn't.

It looks like a Tillandsia. Unfortunately, it may be time to look for a replacement. Scratch the surface of a leaf at the base of the plant. If you find green or juicy growth underneath, then the plant might have a chance of surviving. Give it a soaking, and wait for it to respond with new growth. Cut out the obvious dead leaves.

Otherwise, if you can't find any live tissue, then it's time to buy a new plant.
