I had found my question asked, but no one had answered, so I am asking. This is my first year of having to file taxes by myself since I have been on disability. My disability income is my only income. Do I have to file taxes this year or not? The only deduction from my check is medicare. Help1 I need an answer.

If the disability comes from Social Security, it is tax free.

If it comes from your employer, it IS taxable.

If you paid for the disability with post-tax money, then it is tax free income.
