We adopted a 10 year old Maltese about a month ago. She was having accidents but we seem to have overcome the issues of peeing and pooping when we are gone, but she still pees sometimes when we are home - albeit in another room. Ideas?

Congratulations on choosing to adopt an older dog. The problem with older dogs can sometimes be that they can be a little 'forgetful', just like us aging humans.
The best suggestion I can give is to keep her in sight at all times. If you need to leave the room then make sure she follows you. You can even keep her tethered to you while you are training to ensure she doesn't sneak away to do her business. That way you have total control of when and where she 'goes', make sure you take her outside at regular intervals, every hour if you have to to reinforce the fact she needs to do her business outside rather than in.
It is only a temporary measure until she learns, but it will stop any accidents in other rooms.
